Robin Finlayson, Registered Psychologist (541)

Life can be tough, and trying to navigate it alone can feel overwhelming. You don’t have to do it by yourself. I work with adults and couples across the lifespan, helping them move forward through challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relationship struggles, workplace issues, grief, and major life transitions.

My approach is straightforward and practical—no fluff, just real conversations and strategies that work. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while integrating other evidence-based approaches to suit your unique needs. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and together, we’ll find what works best for you.

With over 25 years of experience, I know that the most important part of therapy is feeling safe, heard, and understood. My goal is to create a space where you can be yourself without judgment. Whether you’re feeling stuck, lost, or just need a fresh perspective, I’m here to help.

I’m a Registered Psychologist, having trained at the University of Central Florida and the University of Saskatchewan. If you’re looking for a down-to-earth therapist who tells it like it is, let’s connect.

I am a Registered Social Worker in the Province of Saskatchewan, licensed for clinical practice. I started my career with the Government of Saskatchewan in 2003 fresh from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. I worked in various capacities within social services and justice prior to leaving the provincial government in 2006. For the past 18 years, I have been employed as a federal public servant and have been a sworn Peace Officer for the entirety of my career. Although I have moved away from front line work in my current management role; I continue to be an active member of our employee assistance program and advocating for workplace mental health. For the past four years, I have also worked as a casual crisis worker. My employment experience has provided unparalleled experience facing direct, vicarious & intergenerational trauma, grief, and working with people who are in crisis and distress. In my practice, I work with a variety of first responders and public safety personnel as well as diverse groups of people from the community from children to the elderly; providing individual, couples and family counselling.

In my clinical practice, I place significant value on developing a supportive and effective therapeutic relationship. I value being authentic, honest, relatable, and realistic while practicing within the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality. I always ensure that my clinical practice is evidence-based and grounded in science, research and best practice while being practical and focused on meeting my clients’ goals. In our sessions, I will utilize an eclectic trauma and culturally informed approach; often moving between treatment modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am a certified R2 Resilience Expert through the Resilience Research Center at Dalhousie University; and incorporate this specialized training into many of my sessions.

Healing does not mean the damage never existed; it means the damage no longer controls your life. As a therapist, I do not have a magic wand. I can’t make the hard things go away; but I can help you process through the hard things, so your experiences do not negatively impact your day to day life. I don’t have all of the answers and I don’t know what’s best for you; but I will help you identify your strengths and explore what treatment modality works for you in your specific situation. During our sessions, I may tell you things that you do not want to hear; but will always do so in the most professional and respectful manner possible. Therapy is about growth, and we cannot grow if we are not challenged.

I am an approved service provider through the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program with Indigenous Services Canada as well as through the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Blue Cross. I am also a member of both the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Corie Sander, BISW, RSW

Mom of 2 Cook Chauffeur Comedian Therapist

Welcome to Phoenix Counseling & Wellness! I’m Corie Sander, a mental health therapist who believes healing doesn’t have to be intimidating—it can even include a laugh or two. (Yes, even in therapy!) My approach is all about making you feel comfortable, like you’re chatting with a friend who just happens to have a lot of training in mental health.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Social Work and am currently working on my Master’s in Counseling Psychology (among other things). I’ve been officially in the field of therapy since 2013, though I suspect my role as the “therapist friend” started much earlier.

I specialize in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)—which sounds like something from a sci-fi movie but is actually an incredible way to help your brain process trauma and stress without having to relive every painful detail. Think of it like tidying up the mental junk drawer—except I promise you won’t find any old batteries or mystery keys in there.

I have training in self-harm, suicide prevention, grief and loss, cognitive behavioral therapy, disordered eating, trauma, workplace conflict, severe and persistent mental illness, and so much more. But here’s the thing—I’m a firm believer in never stopping the learning process. I continue expanding my knowledge because every person is different, and no single approach works for everyone. I also believe I learn just as much from my clients as they do from me.

I’m passionate about meeting people where they’re at—literally and figuratively. Therapy doesn’t always happen in an office. Sometimes it’s a walk outside, a casual chat over coffee, or a moment of reflection in a space that feels safe and familiar to you. Healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all process, and I work hard to make sure it’s one that fits you.

Now, a fun fact: I do not like sports. At all. But if my kids are playing? Oh, I am all in—cheering like it’s the Super Bowl and my team’s about to win with a last-second play.

Above all, I believe in creating a space where you can truly be yourself, no matter where you are in your healing journey. If you’re ready to start unpacking some of life’s baggage (without judgment and with a good cup of coffee in hand), I’m here for you.

Let’s do this—one metaphor at a time.
